Overhead Asset Analytics

Project 34.003

Overhead transmission line present unique challenges due to their significant capital costs, large in geographical dispersed footprint, public facing profile, and vital function of moving power within among utilities. This project intends to address these unique challenges by:

  • Establishing the value and use of data (e.g. inspection and corrective maintenance records, field test reports, condition assessment data, inspection images etc.)
  • Collecting industry wide asset performance and failure data
  • Developing advanced analytical techniques
    • To transform raw data into an analysis ready format
    • Analyze transformed data to produce useful industry wide component performance metrics
  • Developing algorithms to assess condition, quantify existing performance and understand future performance needs.
