Conductor, Shield Wire and Hardware Corrosion Management
Project 35.002
Extending the service life of an overhead transmission line structure requires an understanding of the environment and how the hardware and components age due to those environmental factors. Forensics provides a detailed understanding of the mode of failure and identifies the initiation mechanism. Correlating the initiation mechanism with the severity of the environment allows degradation models to be used in forecasting service life and future maintenance requirements.
