Utilities face the challenge of managing the performance and reliability of multi-generation protection and control (P&C) assets accompanied by tighter regulations. This research will develop application guides and evaluate new technologies for improving relay settings and Configuration Management, reducing cost of protection system maintenance, and advancing new P&C design by embracing fiber optic communication and digital substation technologies.
