Electrical Discharge Inspection Monitoring (EDIM)
Overview
EDIM focuses on Corona and Arcing Inspection and Monitoring. EDIM is intended to be a forum where T&D asset owners subject matter experts can regularly engage with one another, world experts and technology providers.
EDIM Member Section
Scope
- EDIM Members share experiences with inspection and monitoring of corona and arcing.
- Provide education on fundamental and advanced corona and arcing topics.
- Make EDIM Members aware of EPRI and other resources that are available.
- Answer EDIM Members’ technical questions.
- Identify any research areas that need to be addressed.
- Become aware of offerings and new developments from technology providers.
Approach
The intention is to initially hold meetings virtually and inquire if members whether they would like to hold a face-to-face meeting, either at a member site or a EPRI Test Lab.
Members
Staff from international T&D asset owner organizations utilizing a range of discharge inspection and on-line monitoring technologies. Technologies include:
- UV cameras and sensors
- Acoustic Cameras and Sensors
- RF Sensors and line monitoring technologies
- Fiber Optic Based Line Monitoring Systems
- UAV / Robot / on-line monitoring / rounds inspection
This group does not intend to directly cover internal Partial Discharge Monitoring Systems, e.g. Cables, Transformers and GIS.
